This belt was used by dismounted soldiers. Mounted soldiers had only nine pockets on their belts. Snap Dot fasteners came into use in the spring of 1917.

Found at Fort Leavenworth in a 19th Century trash dump site. Not a general issue scale but a variant intended for NCOs only. The "A" Eagle button suggests pre-1851-54 use by horse artillery.
